In June 2001, Family Promise of Reno/Sparks began operation as the Interfaith Hospitality Network (IHN) of the Truckee Meadows and opened its doors to serve homeless families in Washoe County. The Washoe County program, based on a model first implemented by Karen Olsen in Union County, New Jersey, is one of 140 successful networks in 38 states nation-wide.
