About this program

The FutureBound Independent Living Program (FutureBound), founded in 1995, is a supervised apartment-based program for youth who are aging out of the care of public systems and need transitional assistance to live independently in the community. With 24 hour, comprehensive supervision and necessary concrete skills and supports, FILP provides affected adolescents the opportunity to become a) more emotionally stable, b) better educated, c)find jobs that promises economic stability, d)more self-sufficient, and c) develop healthy family and community relationships. FutureBound’s goal is to provide a safe, stable environment so older youth can develop consistent, trustworthy relationships with adults. Youth learn to “push off” toward independence, yet still can fall back when necessary. FILP creates a sense of community among residents, but also connects them to the larger community.
