Freedom House - The Community Shelter

Richmond, VA 23224

About this program

The Community Shelter provides transitional housing services and a stable living environment to 38 single adults (26 men and 12 women) who may remain in the program of up to 12 months before obtaining permanent housing. In October 2010, we began a partnership with the Veterans Administration to reserve 12 of our men’s beds for veterans experiencing homelessness. When people arrive at the Community Shelter, often overwhelmed by their circumstances, they are welcomed into a supportive environment where they can attain the special skills and tools they need to live independently.
